We decided that we wanted to eat somewhere local. We also decided that we were really hungry. So when we arrived at Red Farm, and were told that we were going to have to wait over an hour for a table. We asked about take-away.
We ordered two starters (or dim-sum), a main and a rice which was ready in about 20 mins. We brought it back to the apartment and opened it all up quickly so that it didn't get too steamy.
We started with curried tofu, which was light and creamy with a decent spicy kick ($8).
Next we had vegetable and chive dumplings. ($8) The dumplings were full of perfectly cooked vegetables and the the chive taste came through in the pastry of the dumpling. The dipping sauce was also really delicious.
For our rice dish, we ordered BBQ beef and ginger rice ($18), which had a great taste, although some might call it a little too rich. Again the rice was cooked perfectly and was not too sticky or gooey.
Finally, our main was an aubergine and okra yellow curry with flat bread ($21). The curry was really nice, with well cooked vegetables. The okra wasn't slimy as it sometimes can be and the aubergine soaked up all the flavour of the curry. The rice also went really went with this dish. The bread that accompanied it was also really cooked. Nicely friend but not oily, they broke apart in the mouth and has a mild sweet taste.
We are glad that we had this meal and can see why the restaurant was so busy. We would definitely go back again if there were not a thousand other restaurants we also wanted to try.
