Eat - New Orleans

We arrived at New Orleans late in the afternoon, and after dropping the car off (in the rain I might add) we decided to hunt around for something to eat. We read about a few places but lots of things are closed on Tuesdays, so decided to eat really local and try Eat which is down the road from our apartment.

We were certainly glad we did. Everything on the menu looked delicious and we had a difficult time deciding what to eat. We started with a prawn on fried green tomatoes (like the movie!) with a remoulade. ($8) The prawns were perfectly cooked and unlike anything we had tasted for a long time, the tomato was also really delicious.

Next we had our salads and then onto the main course. Maria ordered The Trio. ($16) This was a cup of gumbo, a cup of red beans, one roasted stuffed pepper, and rice.

The trio was extremely yummy, with spicy sausage and seafood incorporated it all three. All three had there own qualities and they went so well together. Anthony ordered the Chicken and Dumplings with a side of Mac and cheese. ($18)

The dish was fantastic. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the dumplings were light and fluffy and soaked up all the sauce. The Mac and cheese was more dry then I expected and was nice enough to have a few mouthfuls.
