For our last night in New Orleans we wanted to go somewhere nice (but local) so we walked down to Cafe Amelie on Royal st. It looked lovely from the outside with a cute courtyard, citronella candels burning to keep the mozzies away and a very tasty menu.
We were both quite hungry, but not really in the mood for a starter, even though we had heard others explaining how yummy theirs were. Maria opted for a veg plate ($19) with cous cous (even though it came with grits). She thought the vegetables were seasonable and nice but the grit were too milky for her taste so she left half of them on her plate.
Anthony ordered the in-bone porn chop with a sweetcorn sauce and grits ($26). The pork was nicely cooked through, the sauce (with added bots of sausage) was creamy and went well with both the pork and grits. He thought it was a good meal.
That evening however - and the next morning - Anthony realised that maybe the food wasn't as well cooked as it seemed to be as he had quite a dodgy stomach the next day. This would have been ok if we were just hanging around the house, but with a plane journey looming, he was not happy. We wouldn't return.
