St Ali - South Melbourne

We have only been in Melbourne for a few hours and we get to grips with a meal that is big in South Australia, Brunch. The place of choice is in St Ali in Port Melbourne.

The first thing that confused us about Australia was the coffee. We are keen coffee drinkers, but we found the coffee in Melbourne strangely bitter. We ordered a long black which we assumed would be an americano style, but was actually quite short. It was strong as if over brewed, but still gave us the caffeine needed after our (what felt like) days in the air.

Next up, the grub. Anthony ordered the big breakfast as he hadn't had decent pork since Italy. It came with most things you would expect from a breakfast and was a good way to start the holiday. The winning choice however was from Maria, 63 degree eggs and smashed avocado  63 degree eggs are apparently everywhere in Melbourne. These are eggs that are cooked at 63 degrees for 63 minites. (but served in less than 8?) They are pretty incredible and I can assure you that we will be having these at any meal possible.
