Maria's Birthday @ Four Seasons Kaspia and Garage Iskendar

Well, It's that time of year where Anthony has to do something special otherwise he might get shouted at. He decided to surprise Maria by inviting her friends for a fancy drink and that most romantic of meals - the Kebab. 

We started the evening at the brand new hotel in Baku, The Four Seasons. We felt like we were at home when the doorman walked us to the lift and even pressed the correct floor for us. We realised when we got to the bar that it probably wasn't because The Four Seasons is a 5 Star hotel - but because he was board! There was no-one in the lobby or the bar, but it didn't make our cocktails less tasty. Maria had the Kaspia Martini (10AZN) - the signature cocktail. Maria didn't think it was bad, but she also thought it was quite cheap for Baku.  Anthony had the failsafe - Espresso Martini (12AZN). His other failsafe is Pina Colada, but he wanted to see if his Espressotini was better. He decided it was a good one as he was able to taste all the ingredients mentioned - this was the advice that the mixer in Viajante had given him. 

After the cocktails was the Kebab. Garage Iskendar was just around the corner (please bear in mind, however, that it had snowed all day) but as we were already half an hour late we decided to step on it. When we arrived the tables were set up (and one of our friends was already there, had ordered, and was not happy) and we were starving. Some members of the group had already been to the restaurent so suggested items for us to order. We went for the Garage Iskendar Kebab (18.50AZN) and sides of Hot Mash (4AZN) spicy but good, and Heydali (4AZN) yougurt and herbs - awesome with bread. 

The Kebab however was the star of the meal. Two types of meat, different but both really yummy, Yougerty goodness on the side, and underneath, bread that had been fried in butter until crispy, but had soaked up the juices of the kebab and so were both soggy on top and crispy on the bottom. 1 word - AWESOME. We wil definitely be coming here again with anyone who wants a kebab and by ourselves, and will definitely try some different sides as well.  

In the end, I'm pretty sure Maria like her birthday bonanza, and it was great to be surround by good friends, and amazing food.
