Tosca - on the Boulevard

We visited Tosca on a warm Hump Day evening. The Caspian was a bit choppy from the wind that was blowing from the south, so of course we decided to sit outside.

Tosca is the downstairs restaurant of Sahil which is raved about in any and all magazine and is the premiere Italian eatery. We met Patti and Dave there and they explained when when they ate their last they didn't really enjoy the pasta. That was fine, there is no way we were going to turn down a pizza, especially when there was PORK on the menu!

We started with a round of (stale) bread (4AZN). It would have been something to complain about however when the meat board came out with a variety of meats (7AZN) and a tangy, olivey oil it was very effective in soaking up the sauce.

Maria and I ordered two pizza's to share. A mushroom, chicken and cheese pizza (10AZN) and a spicy pork sausage one (8AZN). We have to say it was very good. The base was very crisp and still slightly doughy and the cheeses were creamy and stringy. The mushrooms and chicken was cooked well but the winner was the the spicy sausage. Giving us a real hit of spice, it made us keep going back and back again for it. making sure the last morsel in our mouth was a bite of that sausage.

Patti ordered a tomato pasta (7AZN). It looked good and she commented that it was quite tasty.

After we had ordered, Tom and Nikki joined us and Nikki ordered what looked like a very yummy fish. Very juicy and succulent. Might need to try that next time.

All in all it was quite a good meal, and a good place to return to if we need a decent pizza and beer was on Draft. It also makes us want to try Sahil which is upstairs.

  1. Excellent review.

Thinking of bringing our relatives here when they come over. I think you should talk about the prices in your blog for the following two reasons:
    i) Dan will thank you for it,
ii) the folks at home (wherever that might be) usually LOVE to compare prices (I know - I do).
