Banh mi - Hoi An

Our lovely food tour guide Tu had sent us some suggestions for food in Hoi An and yet again we were delighted with his recommendations. Our favourite meal without a doubt, was banh mi, a dish that we had become familiar with in London.

These light warm crispy baguettes filled with a combination of pâté, floss, two different cuts of pork, pickled vegetables, fresh herbs with mayonnaise and chili sauce were outstanding! In three days, we ate five sandwiches each, that's how good they were.

Each time the baguettes were slightly different. Sometimes they had Chinese sausage, sometimes they were packed with fresh herbs, sometimes with a hot omelette. It all depended on what ingredients were to hand and who was making the sandwich.
