Wonders of London - Bill's Cafe Islington

On a sunny weekend, Anthony always likes to go for a walk. Today we were heading towards the local bookshop when we were stopped in the street and asked if we would like to have a free breakfast. How could we refuse? Before opening to paying customers, Bills Islington was giving the kitchen a chance to test out their menu. We were asked to order different dishes and then rate the experience at the end of our meal.

I had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, a cafetiere coffee and a raspberry, peach and mango juice. I wasn't feeling particularly hungry as we had just eaten breakfast but the eggs were beautifully scrambled, soft and fluffy with lots of seasoning and complimented the smoked salmon perfectly. The toast was a bit soggy by the time I got to the end of the dish and would probably have been better served on the side. The juice was delicious and transported me straight to a tropical climate!

Anthony had coffee, apple juice and Bill`s breakfast; sausage, fried eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon & toast with bubble and squeak. Everything was well cooked but the particular highlight of the dish was the the bubble and squeak which had a fantastic mustard taste and great texture.

Our only disappointment was that we didn't have the camera with us! There are not that many places to have a leisurely brunch in Angel so I am sure that we will be back, and this time with our camera!
